About Hibino LIC

Serving Japanese foods with traditional seasoning; miso, mirin, sake and soy sauce.

Located at 10-70 Jackson Ave, Long Island City, NY 11101, Hibino LIC operates as a japanese serving Long Island City in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as sushi restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

This group covers Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian and other Asian cuisines that are not Chinese, and the etiquette varies by kitchen. Japanese and Korean restaurants often take reservations for dinner and may add a service charge for large groups; Thai and Vietnamese spots are usually walk-in and quick-turnover. Spice levels are frequently adjustable on request at Thai, Indian and Sichuan-adjacent menus, so say if you want it mild or hot. Korean BBQ restaurants typically charge per person for all-you-can-eat service with a time limit, and grills are shared at the table. Vietnamese pho shops post bowl sizes (regular or large) and a plate of herbs, bean sprouts and lime is normal to add yourself. Card and tap-to-pay are widely accepted; cash-only is more common at small family-run counters.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. The most common schedule is 11:30 am–2:30 pm. Customers rate it 4.5 out of 5 on Google across 613 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded japanese & sushi in Long Island City.

Long Island City is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Long Island City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Hibino is an awesome place for lunch. $13 for a bento box is great value, and the quality of the food and service is top notch. Food and ambiance is excellent. The teriyaki chicken is pretty incredible. It’s a lot of food for a single person, very filling.

The minimalist atmosphere, authentic Japanese cuisine, and convenient location just steps from the Vernon Blvd–Jackson Av station make this a place we keep returning to. For lunch, the Lunchbox Specials are an excellent value, particularly the Hokke Ichiyaboshi, which features broiled, salted Atka mackerel. For dinner, two standout dishes are the Salmon Miso Zuke, which includes flavorful miso-marinated salmon served with seasonal vegetables, and the Hibino Teriyaki Chicken, made with roasted organic chicken and seasonal vegetables. I also really enjoy their desserts.

Good price, good fish. The staff were kind and efficient. We shared the omakase special of the night, some appetizers and a roll that came with it. Highlights were the fresh tofu, and the toro which was exquisite. Parking was decent, with a bunch of one ways around the area so you will make a lot of loops before finding a spot but the restaurant is right by the 7 for those who love the subway. Tuesday, at 6:00pm we entered a calm and by 6:30pm it was bustling with families and couples meeting after a long day of work. This place was alive.

We had a great dinner. The only miss was the sake katsu - the salmon was really dry and we couldn't really eat. Kamo salad was refreshing. We had the tuna and salmon hako sushi, lobster tempura futomaki, and other rolls. Highly recommend!

Hibino is one of my favourite restaurants in LIC. I love that they offer their lunch specials even on weekends. I always order their "obento box", which comes with a choice of an entrΓ©e from their daily-rotating list (so cute how they write them on a few chalkboards that they move around the restaurant for whoever's ordering). Everything I've ordered has always been delicious, from the various fish dishes (salmon / arctic char are particular favourites), the stir-fried pork, and their sushi rolls. The salad is invariably so fresh, and the small side of obanzai is always a treat :) Price point is unparalleled -- I think the bento was priced at $12 when I first came a few years ago, and it's still $12 now. Such a lovely cute restaurant -- service is fast and friendly, and the interior, while a bit small, is definitely very cosy and has that unique rustic Japanese aesthetic to it (including a lot of their tableware). This is definitely a must-try in the area, and I will no doubt be back very soon!
